Why Crescent

Our focus on character education is aligned to our mission and an integral part of how we teach, motivate and inspire our boys.

Belonging@Crescent

The Crescent Belonging Committee is comprised of leaders from across the school, including the Heads of each School division, the Chief People Officer, Student Services, Marketing & Communication, and chaired by Dr. Sandra Boyes, Executive Director of the Crescent Centre for Boys’ Education. This group leads and supports school-wide initiatives that focus on community and cultural events. An intentional emphasis on these events promotes a sense of belonging and contributes to the well-being of students and staff.

The group puts together a year-long calendar of community and cultural events and determines the level of support each event will receive. The level of support varies. For example, events such as Black History Month, Mental Health Awareness, and Holocaust Education Week will have curricular tie-ins, special assemblies, and guided discussion notes for Home Form/Mentor Group. Religious celebrations such as Ramadan, Holi, Passover, or Easter may be acknowledged on social media where we extend a message to the members of our community observing these occasions. Other cultural and community events which the Crescent Belonging Committee oversees include Lunar New Year, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Pride, and Pink Shirt Day to name a few.
