Character-In-Action

Crescent’s Character-In-Action programs provide our boys with authentic opportunities to develop character outside of the classroom.
Character-In-Action

Athletics

    • Crescent Students Running
Building character happens on the field and in the gym as well as in the classroom. Crescent Athletics are “Character-in-Action” opportunities for coaches to teach boys values above winning, including sportsmanship, teamwork and respect.
Our athletics program complements our curricular phys ed classes, providing boys in Grades 3–12 with opportunities to explore character through action in a competitive environment, and to develop a life-long passion for an active, healthy lifestyle.

Crescent has
over 70 sports teams including volleyball, cross-country, track and field, hockey, swimming, baseball and tennis. In addition, there are intramural and House-based sports for students who do not play on competitive teams.

  • Committed Coaching

Nearly 60 members of our faculty serve as team coaches. Their work is supported by guest coaches from the community. As well, Upper School students are encouraged to develop their leadership skills as student coaches for younger teams.

Along with preparing the athletes to compete, all coaches work to instil good sportsmanship, resiliency, teamwork and other positive character traits, and to ensure the athletes have the resources and support to meet Crescent's high academic standards.
  • Competitive Teams at Crescent

Crescent competes at CISAA (Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Association) league competitions with other schools' elite representative teams. We offer Division 2 and 3 teams when possible. Some Crescent teams compete at CAIS (Canadian Accredited Independent Schools) tournaments and OFSAA (Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations). Each year, one of our rugby, soccer or hockey teams participates in an international tour.
  • Athletic Teams and Intramurals

Crescent’s flagship team sports are soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter and rugby in the spring. Here is a complete list of our athletic teams and intramurals:

Crescent Athletes Enjoy Superb Facilities

Crescent’s athletic facilities are of the highest standard. Our year-round, bubbled Field House is a massive 30,000-square-foot field with an indoor track, tennis and basketball courts. Soccer and rugby are played on Innes Field, an artificial turf surface. We have two gymnasiums, squash courts, a low ropes course, track & field training areas and many cross-country trails on our campus. Community pools and hockey rinks are located nearby.
