Interdisciplinary Studies

List of 2 items.

  • AP Research, Grade 12

    IDC4U1
In Grade 12, students deeply explore an academic topic, problem, issue, or idea of individual interest. Students design, plan, and implement a yearlong investigation to address a research question. Through this inquiry, they further the skills they acquired in the AP Seminar course by learning research methodology, employing ethical research practices, and accessing, analyzing, and synthesizing information. Students reflect on their skill development, document their processes, and curate the artifacts of their scholarly work through a process and reflection portfolio. The course culminates in an academic paper of 4,000–5,000 words (accompanied by a performance, exhibit, or product where applicable) and a presentation with an oral defence.
Prerequisite Courses: Grade 11 AP Seminar
  • Crescent Media Production, Grade 12

    IDC4U
This course enables students to further develop media knowledge and skills while designing and producing projects in the areas of print and graphic communications, video production, and branding. Students enrolled in the IDC4U - Crescent Media Production course will apply their digital media skills on internal community-based projects such as Digital Assembly Production, Yearbook Construction (Page Design, Photography, Print Layout), Logo and Branding for Clubs and Teams, and the creation of a Crescent Magazine. Students will further develop their production skills, writing skills, and ability to work for and with "clients" from around the school. Students interested in these initiatives and creating tangible products throughout the year should apply to be a part of this new course offering.
Prerequisite Courses: None; Grade 11 Communications Technology highly encouraged
