Crescent School has lowered its flags to half-mast today in memory of the victims of yesterday’s tragic events on Yonge Street. We extend our deepest sympathies to all those affected by this terrible incident.
That is how the Greek philosopher Aristippus of Cyrene responded when asked to list the most necessary things for boys to learn. I like to think that the questioner was struck by the deep wisdom of Aristippus' response. Today his words resonate with those of us dedicated to providing you with the best possible education.
The Upper School couples a challenging academic program with a personalized learning environment where your unique needs, strengths and talents are illuminated and nurtured. This is one of Crescent's greatest strengths.
The pursuit of academic excellence is complemented by a special regard for teaching you lessons that cannot be found in a textbook or worked out on a calculator: lessons about life. Visit the classroom, the field, the theatre, the robotics lab or the back roads of Cambodia, and you will see our faculty inspiring and motivating boys to dig deeper and reach higher.
Our focus on character development is what makes Crescent distinct. Building Men of Character from Boys of Promise is the mission woven into the very fabric of our school.
As a result, you'll leave Crescent equipped with the habits of mind and strength of character to succeed in university and in life. I believe Aristippus would approve.
This is only a hint of our approach to the education of young men in the Upper School. I welcome you to visit us to get a full sense of what makes our community so special. Drop by one of our Open Houses or contact our Enrolment Team to arrange a tour. It would be our pleasure to show you around.
