Upper School

Welcome to Crescent's Upper School, where boys learn "those things which they should know as men."
When Greek philosopher Aristippus of Cyrene (b. 435 BC) was asked to list the most necessary things for boys to learn, he responded: "those things which they should know as men." Today his words resonate with us at Crescent School, where we are dedicated to providing young men with the best possible education.

For boys in Grades 9 to 12, the Upper School couples a challenging academic program with a personalized learning environment where each student's unique needs, strengths and talents are illuminated and nurtured. This is one of Crescent's greatest strengths.

The pursuit of academic excellence is complemented by a special regard for teaching lessons that cannot be found in a textbook or worked out on a calculator: lessons about life. In the classroom, the sports field, the theatre, the robotics lab or even the back roads of Tanzania, our faculty inspire and motivate boys to dig deeper and reach higher.

A Crescent education is distinguished by our focus on character development. Our mission, Building Men of Character from Boys of Promise, is woven into the very fabric of our school.

As a result, Crescent graduates are equipped with the habits of mind and strength of character to succeed in university and in life. Aristippus would approve.
