Crescent Celebrates the Year of the Fire Horse

Crescent marked the Lunar New Year with two special events. On February 12, Lower and Middle School students had fun learning about the many countries that celebrate Lunar New Year, their traditions, and special holiday foods. Master Tang and his talented troop of martial artists demonstrated their wushu skills and performed a lion dance, which is meant to ward off evil spirits and attract good luck and prosperity.

Our school community was treated to a special celebratory lunch on February 17 to welcome the Year of the Fire Horse, courtesy of SAGE Dining. On the menu were Lion’s Head meatballs, char siu chicken, mapo tofu, vegetable chow mein, ginger-garlic bok choy, and spring rolls. This cultural feast is part of our ongoing series of celebratory meals highlighting the diversity of our community.

To all who celebrate, may the Year of the Fire Horse bring you good fortune, health, and happiness.
