Past & Present Magazine: Crescent Alumni Offer Hope
The Winter 2021 issue of Crescent School's Past & Present magazine offers stories about alumni who are using their expertise to find hope for some of society’s most urgent challenges.
The cover story features five alumni on the front lines of climate change, from Arctic glacier research to Australian solar energy production: Liam Colgan ’00, Martin Ritchie ’99, Geoff Stoker-Lavelle ’99, Basil Demeroutis ’87 and Tim Martin ’07.
Other profiles explore how Scott Moore ’99 is helping young people transform their lives, and the work of Professor Gabriel Leung ’90, Dean of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong and Asia’s most renowned public health expert and epidemiologist.
The issue also shares life advice from four esteemed alumni who attended Crescent during its early decades: Fraser McKee ’37, Ed Saunders ’37, William Greer ’37 and Tom Symons ’41. Sadly, Prof. Symons passed away on January 1, 2021, making the wisdom he shared with us extra poignant. As the founder of Trent University, he was a remarkable influence on Canadian post-secondary education and scholarship, and he will be greatly missed.
