Celebrating Lunar New Year At Crescent

The Lunar New Year is celebrated by East Asian and Southeast Asian people around the world, and Crescent School is proud to celebrate it too. Each year, Crescent holds a special Lunar New Year assembly for our Lower and Middle School boys. Many parents participate with their sons to share their family traditions connected to this holiday.

On January 27, 2020, our Lunar New Year assembly welcomed the “Year of the Rat” with a Lion Dance and a martial art demonstration by members of the Hong Luck Kung Fu Association. Four Crescent boys spoke about how their families honour Lunar New Year according to Chinese and Korean customs.

The festivities continued in the Dining Hall, where the entire school enjoyed a special lunch menu featuring Asian cuisine.

The Lunar New Year assembly is one of a series of cultural events at Crescent that celebrate the diversity that exists in our community.
