Crescent Math Team Ranks Fifth in Canada

Crescent’s Upper School Math Team finished in fifth place in the prestigious Canadian Team Mathematics Contest at the University of Waterloo on April 9, 2019.

"Thirty-five of the toughest math teams in Canada were competing and our boys did outstandingly well," says Upper School math teacher Alex Pintilie.

The contest involved questions that permitted team collaboration, individual problems and math relays (where one student's answer to a question is needed by a teammate to solve the next question). Calculators were only permitted during the individual and relay sections.

The team's score earned Crescent an automatic spot for next year’s competition. Of special note: the team's captain, Grade 12 student Patrick S., had a perfect individual score for the second year in a row. Congratulations to all the team members on their impressive results.
