Neil Pasricha shares happiness secrets at Crescent’s Morning of Awesome

Neil Pasricha, author of The Book of Awesome and The Happiness Equation, was the special guest at Crescent's “Morning of Awesome” on December 15, 2017. He gave two engaging presentations: one for Crescent parents and alumni, and one for all Crescent students.

Mr. Pasricha told the parents and alumni that positive psychology research shows that 40% of our happiness is based on our intentional actions. This means we can choose to do things that will make us happier. He said that happiness requires social fulfillment, stimulation (always learning new things) & story (being part of something bigger than yourself).

When he spoke to the boys, Mr. Pasricha encouraged them to make a habit of these five secrets to being happier:

1) Go for a 20-minute nature walk every day.
2) Write in a journal every day about something good that happened.
3) Do five conscious acts of kindness every day.
4) Meditate every day.
5) Use “rose rose thorn bud” every day to talk with our families about two good things that happened (roses), one thing that didn't go well (thorn) and one thing we're looking forward to (bud).
