Matthew Corolis is a filmmaker, who started his career building social media brands and campaigns for Olympians. Corolis pivoted this knowledge into becoming a documentary filmmaker, utilizing his contacts to create his first documentary in 2017, Alicia, about Alicia Brown; an Olympian who wrongfully served a 2-year doping ban.
In 2018, Corolis took his desire to tell social impact stories to Tanzania, where he directed the film, Cancer Divided. Utilizing his experience in social media campaigning, the film gained traction and media attention, eventually being invited to be screened at the World Health Organization, where he earned an Honorary Distinction from the WHO for his work.
His upcoming animated documentary, The Reconnaissance Painter, will be released in 2023. The film profiles the life and service of World War Two reconnaissance photographer John Fleetwood-Morrow, “bringing to life” the paintings he made in the field through vivid animation. On November 11, 2022, the upcoming film made the front page of The Globe & Mail.
After earning his Masters of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing, Corolis sold his first feature film script, which is awaiting production.
