Green Room Essentials: Crescent's Intranet for Parents

List of 5 items.

  • How To Log In

To access the Green Room, go to crescentschool.myschoolapp.com.

Each parent has a Green Room account. Parents should always use their own account and not their son’s account.

To log in, parents must use the email address on file with the school. Email is the only accepted login credential. Usernames are not accepted.

Please follow these Green Room login instructions. If you have trouble logging in, please contact info@crescentschool.org.

New students will receive their Crescent email and Green Room access when school starts.

If your son has any outstanding forms, these will appear in the yellow form notification bar at the top of the screen. The yellow bar remains until you submit the form or the form expires. Whenever you receive an email from Crescent School requesting you to submit a form, you can access the form by clicking on this yellow notification bar.

You can also review any forms and contracts previously submitted. While in the Green Room, click on your profile, select Files & Forms, and then click on Show Completed Forms.

Student Health & Well-Being

Health services are provided in our Wellness Centre, which is staffed full-time by our school nurses. Our nurses provide primary care to students who become ill or injured at school and work with our teachers to ensure that boys coping with chronic illness and injury are appropriately accommodated.

List of 6 items.

  • Medical Forms

To ensure that we are able to provide the best care for your son, it is essential that we have up-to-date information about his medical history and your consent allowing the school to provide first aid if required. Please promptly submit your son’s medical form once received.
  • Boys with Prevalent Medical Conditions

In accordance with the Ontario Education Act, Policy Memorandum 161, all students with a prevalent medical condition (asthma, diabetes, epilepsy and/or at risk of anaphylaxis) are required to have a Plan of Care form on file at the beginning of each school year. The form outlines condition triggers and management steps and authorizes Crescent School to share this information with the student’s teachers, coaches, trip leaders and school nurses.
If you indicate one of these conditions on your son’s medical form, you will be assigned a Plan of Care form early in the school year.

Crescent’s Prevalent Medical Conditions policy can be found in the Wellness Centre post under the Resources tab of the Green Room.
  • Keep Your Son’s Immunization Record Up-To-Date

Parents are responsible for ensuring their children’s immunization records are complete and current. Students with out-of-date or incomplete immunization records are at risk of school suspension until records or a valid exemption form are provided. You can verify and update your son’s immunization records on Toronto Public Health’s immunization tracking website.

Crescent School hosts immunization clinics conducted by Toronto Public Health for Grade 7 students to receive these vaccines:
    • Meningococcal vaccine (prevents meningitis)
    • Human Papillomavirus vaccine (prevents cancers)
    • Hepatitis B vaccine (prevents liver disease and cancer)
Parents will be advised when these clinics are being held and parental consent is required.

Click here to learn more about TPH's School Immunization Program & Catch-up Clinics.

Please continue to report student immunization here.

  • No Nuts. No Peanuts

Crescent School is an allergen-aware and nut-safe environment. This means there will be no foods or snacks served by the school that are known to contain peanuts, peanut by-products, nuts or traces of nuts. Parents must also be allergen-aware and nut-safe, and not knowingly bring allergens or traces of allergens into the school from home.

    Read Crescent's Anaphylaxis Policy here.
  • Concussion Care

Crescent School has an agreement with Holland Bloorview Concussion Centre, a full-service concussion clinic. Concussion education and care are provided for all Crescent School boys by Holland Bloorview Concussion Centre.

It is important to immediately notify the Crescent Wellness Centre when any student suffers a concussion. The Wellness Centre will provide the family with a concussion package that will include a referral form for the Holland Bloorview Concussion Centre to be completed by the family doctor. The Holland Bloorview Concussion Centre will manage, in collaboration with our school nurses, the ”return to learn” and “return to physical activity” plans for boys in recovery.

Please visit the Wellness Centre resource post in the Green Room for information about Crescent's Concussion Policy.
  • Crescent Student Services

Visit the Crescent Student Services resource post in the Green Room to learn how we support boys’ physical and emotional well-being to help them reach their full potential.

Get to Know SAGE

SAGE is Crescent’s dining services partner. During campus construction, a temporary dining hall has been erected in the CCL Cafe area where our daily hot lunch program continues throughout the construction period.

List of 4 items.

  • Daily Lunch

A hot and healthful lunch is included in tuition for all boys at Crescent School, and all students are expected to partake in this service.

The daily lunch menu is published each day and can be accessed from the What’s For Lunch resource tile in the Green Room or from SAGE’s Crescent Community web portal.

Each day there is a selection of hot entrees with sides and vegetables, soup, salad, and sandwich bars, dessert and fresh fruit.
  • Touch of SAGE App

Parents and students can also check the lunch menu, rate meal items and manage their allergens using the Touch of SAGE app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. Use the postal code M2L 1A2 (with space) in the location field to search for Crescent School.

This video provides instructions on how to use the Touch of SAGE app.
  • Managing Food Allergies

SAGE follows a comprehensive allergen management program that covers everything from purchasing and deliveries to food preparation and service to ensure community members with food allergies feel safe and included.

The daily menu can be filtered for 12 priority allergens (wheat, gluten, eggs, fish, milk, sesame, soy, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, mustard, and sulphites) and two eating patterns (vegetarian and vegan) using the filter function on the daily menu and on the Touch of SAGE app

Please send an email to sage@crescentschool.org if you have questions relating to your son's special dietary needs for religious, health or lifestyle reasons. The team at SAGE will be happy to give you a tour of the kitchen, show you ingredients, and discuss any concerns about their food allergy protocols.
  • Spotlight on Nutrition

The SAGE Spotlight Program provides education and guidance on building nutritionally balanced plates based on personal and dietary preferences.

Each menu item is assigned a green Spotlight based on its nutrient density. The darker the green, the more nutrient-dense the food. Find the Spotlights on menus online and in the dining hall, as well as in the Touch of SAGE app.

This video describes the SAGE Spotlight Program.

More Helpful Information

  • Cellphone and Other Personal Electronic Devices Policy

Effective September, we are extending the policy which already applies to our Lower and Middle School students to the Upper School. Upper School students who opt to bring personal electronic devices to school will be required to keep them locked away in their lockers during the school day. This includes, but is not limited to smartphones and data-enabled smartwatches. Please read Deputy Headmaster Nick Kovacs’ June 10 message for more information about this policy. The policy can be found in the Family Handbook.
  • Computing Devices

    Lower School:
Students in Grades 3–6 are issued Chromebooks for use at school. We recommend that families provide reliable access to a computer at home for the boys in case they need it.

    Middle & Upper Schools:
Students in Grades 7–12 are required to bring their own computing devices to class. Students may use the device of their choice—Mac, PC, laptop, or tablet—for taking notes, working on projects with classmates, completing assignments and doing homework. Any device with wireless capacity will work on Crescent’s system. We recommend a minimum of 8 GB of RAM and at least a 256 GB hard drive.

All students must comply with Crescent’s Acceptable Computer Use contract, which can be found in the Family Handbook.

A Warm Welcome from the Crescent Parent Association

We hope you had a wonderful summer with your families. The Crescent Parent Association (CPA) is looking forward to another exciting year celebrating all things Crescent and working alongside our incredible community, in partnership with both the school and our boys.

As you know, construction is underway and part of the planning for the upcoming academic year has been to work around the changing landscape of the school. We feel very good about the year ahead, with plans to maintain a strong series of CPA events that will continue to achieve our fundraising goals and carry through our community-building initiatives.

We look forward to connecting with you at many of our events, which range from grade-based social gatherings to school-wide activities. The CPA relies on you, our parent volunteers, to keep our community strong. We encourage you to attend or volunteer at these events in any capacity you are able. CPA events serve to fundraise, give back to local charities, and build our school community. It is multi-pronged, and very rewarding in every aspect.

Following tradition, the first CPA event will be Coffee in the Courtyard on the first Friday of the school year. It is a great kick-off to the school year and will take place on Friday, September 6 from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m., rain or shine. Due to construction, this year's event will take place in the Formal Garden, located behind the Manor House. The location has shifted, but the coffee is still the same! Please come and meet new friends or reconnect with those you haven’t seen all summer.

Please reach out with any questions. I look forward to meeting you all as the school year gets underway!
