Bequest & Legacy Giving

Crescent School is fortunate to have many donors who support the school generously throughout their lifetime. Legacy Giving allows that relationship to continue, in perpetuity, through bequests or other planned gifts, benefitting Crescent school and its boys for generations to come.
The most common form of legacy gift is a bequest. There are other legacy gift options as well. We would be happy to discuss the possibilities with you. We also recommend that you consult a qualified financial advisor, lawyer or accredited estate planner.

Susan Denton Massey Society

Legacy Giving Donors are part of The Susan Denton Massey Society, an esteemed group of benefactors who have made commitments to support Crescent School in their estates.

  • About the Susan Denton Massey Society

Susan Denton Massey was the first significant benefactor of Crescent School. She gifted the Massey Estate – 40 acres in eastern Toronto called Dentonia Park – to the School, allowing Crescent to establish its first true campus.

Bequests

A bequest is a gift in your Will, usually a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate. You can direct a bequest towards particular project or program, or to provide general funding for the School. Your financial planner or lawyer can advise you on the best form of bequest for your circumstances.

If you are considering a bequest, we will be happy to discuss the possibilities with you. No commitment is required. We can also provide your financial planner or lawyer with the information needed to create your bequest.

  • Benefits of Making a Bequest

A bequest is a tax-effective means of supporting boys’ education at Crescent School.
    • Your estate may claim gifts in the year of death equal to 100% per cent of your net income in that year and the preceding year.
    • You have use of the asset while you are alive.
    • You can designate your gift to Crescent School to fund a particular project or to The Crescent School Foundation as an endowment that will provide funding in perpetuity.
A bequest is revocable during your lifetime and can be changed if your financial circumstances change.

Charitable Life Insurance

A gift of charitable life insurance is another way to support boys’ education at Crescent School. We are happy to discuss this possibility with you, or to provide information to your lawyer or financial planner.
