Student Places 1st in Math Contest

On January 13, Middle School students participated in the Caribou Math Contest, a series of six international contests held online throughout the school year. The January event marked the third in the series. Grade 8 student Jerry Yao placed first in the Grade 7/8 cohort, and ultimately rose above all 10,000 registered students to earn the top ranking overall.

The contest is composed of logic puzzles, interactive questions and an occasional math history focus. Students must complete these contests using a device without the aid of a calculator and are scored on accuracy and timing. The Caribou Math Contest will culminate at the end of the school year with the Caribou Cup. Each contest score will contribute to a student’s overall placement.
