Prime Minister’s Award for Crescent Faculty Member Michael Jansen

Crescent School faculty member Michael Jansen has been honoured with a Certificate of Achievement from the 2018 Prime Minister’s Awards for Teaching Excellence. This award recognizes outstanding teachers for their remarkable achievements in education and for their commitment to preparing students for a digital and innovation-based economy.

Jansen’s exceptional teaching skills had previously been recognized by the Chemical Institute of Canada with the 2017 Beaumier Award for High School/CEGEP Chemistry Teachers.

“Michael is a master teacher not simply because he is an expert in his field, is a highly relational teacher, and is beloved by his colleagues and by alumni, but because he teaches the mission of Crescent School on a daily basis - he is a Man of Character,” says Crescent Headmaster Michael Fellin. “We are thrilled that he was chosen by the Prime Minister as an example of excellence in the profession.”

This is the third time in four years that a Crescent teacher has been recognized by the Prime Minister’s Awards for Teaching. French teacher Sylvia Duckworth (who retired in 2017) received a Certificate of Excellence, and Dean of Studies David Grant received a Certificate of Achievement.
