One of the top independent schools for boys in Canada, Crescent School spans 37 acres in midtown Toronto. Now in our second century, we provide rich and diverse experiences and opportunities for boys in Grades 3–12 to learn, grow and thrive. Character has always been at the centre of a Crescent education supporting our mission, Men of Character from Boys of Promise.
Since 1913, Crescent School’s focus has been on character development. It is part of our DNA and involves a deep, uncompromising commitment to three essential areas we believe bring out the best in boys: relational learning, mentoring and character-in-action. A school that truly understands what makes boys tick, Crescent is here to meet your son’s development needs every step of the way.
Finding the right school for your son is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. Thank you for considering Crescent School. We invite you to apply through our online application form. Learn more about us by attending an Open House or taking a virtual tour. We look forward to welcoming you to our campus.
A Crescent education is exciting, fulfilling and broad. Our curriculum is taught by highly motivated, supportive teachers who understand that establishing a relationship with your son unlocks the door to learning and engages him in his character development. Your son will be celebrated for both his work and his work ethic as we guide him academically and emotionally on his journey to becoming a Man of Character.
Character-in-Action programs are Crescent's co-curricular activities that provide boys with ample opportunities to develop character outside the classroom. Through clubs and teams in the arts, business, robotics and athletics, your son will discover new interests and build his leadership skills. And our outreach programs will allow him to gain compassion for others both in our community and abroad.
The generosity of our Crescent community provides vital support for our campus development, signature academic and co-curricular programs, and Student Financial Assistance. Contributions, no matter what their size, allow us to deliver the best possible education for our boys and help ensure that we continue to fulfill our mission: Men of Character from Boys of Promise.
Crescent School doesn’t slow down when regular classes are out. We offer a Summer Academic Program available to all high school students, as well as summer camps for children 4 to 13 years old. Our Successful Start program is a special academic prep program exclusively available to Crescent students.
Employment at Crescent School is an opportunity to build a rewarding career and belong to a dynamic community where all are respected for their contributions. Our employees share a commitment to excellence that has made us one of the top schools for boys in the world. An equal-opportunity employer, we offer competitive compensation and benefits and believe strongly in workplace accessibility.
Each and every day, I have the privilege of experiencing the generosity and commitment of the Crescent School family. I see teachers helping their students to take risks, try new things and learn from their experiences both inside and outside the classroom. I see colleagues supporting one another in their teaching, mentoring and coaching pursuits. I also see the ongoing involvement of current and past parents and alumni volunteering to ensure that their School continues to thrive and evolve.
As Director of Advancement, I also see the Crescent community’s generosity firsthand through philanthropy. Crescent is very proud of its supportive community of current and past parents, alumni, grandparents and friends. For decades, our Crescent family has contributed to capital projects, program enhancements and Student Financial Aid to make our School better for the next generation of Boys of Promise. That legacy of giving is felt today, as our current students benefit from those who committed over $34 million to the Great Boys campaign, which added Innes Field, the Margaret Donnelly Lower School Library, the Lau Family Wing, the Latifi Family Commons and the Middle School/Upper School Library to our campus. Great Boys also expanded our programs in the areas of robotics, Crescent Student Services, international outreach and Student Financial Aid.
Today, 75% of our current parents donate to our Parent Annual Giving program in support of Board-approved initiatives not covered by tuition. These include Student Financial Aid, new programs, major capital expenditures for our facilities, and special projects such as the development of our Master Campus Plan. Character-in-Action programs, including Arts, Athletics, Business, Outreach and Robotics, are also supported. We are very proud of our Parent Annual Giving program, an acknowledged leader in Canadian independent schools, and grateful to our tremendously generous parents.
Alumni and past parents support Student Financial Aid, ensuring that Crescent can continue to recruit and retain outstanding boys in our classrooms, art studios, theatre, science and robotics labs and on our playing fields, regardless of their families’ financial circumstances. Outstanding students can come from anywhere. They are often the role models that other boys strive to emulate, raising the bar for achievement across our School. All of our boys benefit by learning alongside students who bring diverse perspectives and viewpoints. A Crescent education is a gift and a privilege, and if our means allows, I believe it is our responsibility to share this gift with others.
There are so many more worthwhile programs, initiatives and efforts I could mention. I feel so fortunate to be part of such a caring and giving community. I am inspired by the generosity I see day in and day out in both my professional role at Crescent and in my personal role as a Crescent mum.
Thank you for supporting our boys at Crescent so generously, in so many ways.
