Dave Shaw, Director of Enrolment and Financial Aid, answers the question: "How do we prepare for the application interview?”
Here is a summary of the video:
As part of our application process, your son may be invited for an interview at Crescent. Many families ask how they can make sure their son does his best at this interview.
Here’s what you need to know: the interview is simply a conversation with your son about what he likes and what he thinks about things.
It’s fairly informal and it last about 15 to 20 minutes. There are no tough questions. We just want to get to know him better.
It’s also a chance for your son to ask us questions. You can encourage him to have one or two questions ready about things at Crescent that he’s curious about.
Boys who have experience talking politely with adults generally do well in the interview. But we’re not impressed by rehearsed answers and over-preparation. It’s more important for your son to spend time doing things he enjoys, not practising for an interview.
If we invite your son for an interview, we’ll also ask to have a separate meeting with you too. Again, this is simply a brief and informal conversation. It helps us learn more about your son and what you’re looking for in a school.
Remember, an interview at Crescent should be relaxed and enjoyable, so that we can all get to know one another better.
