Explore the history and culture of the Deep South
We’ll work with Boys and Girls Clubs in Atlanta and New Orleans, exchanging stories and perspectives with marginalized youth. We’ll learn about the Black Liberation movement, discover the roots of hip hop, jazz and soul music, and sample the local creole food of this historically rich region.
- Visiting the Center for Civil and Human Rights and the King Center for Nonviolent Social Change
- Exploring the Atlanta Beltline’s Eastside Trail, home to the city’s largest outdoor art gallery
- Touring the Faubourg ‘Treme in New Orleans, America’s oldest black neighbourhood
Provides a maximum of 20 community service hours.
