Summer Academic Program 2020

COVID-19 Update: Crescent's Summer Academic Program is going virtual. 

Registration closes on Monday, June 15 @ 11 p.m.
Classes begin on Monday, June 22.
Crescent School’s Summer Academic Program is a “reach ahead” rather than remedial program. It is open to students from all independent or public schools. Take advantage of this opportunity to accelerate your learning or lighten next year's course load. There is a variety of credit courses offered in Summer 2020, including new courses for students who are entering or completing Grade 9.

  • Four-Week Program

    Classes begin Monday, June 22 and run through Friday, July 17, 2020. There are no classes on Canada Day (Wednesday, July 1)

    Daily Schedule*:

    Monday to Friday via Zoom
    Period 1 - Synchronous Learning8:30 - 9:00 a.m.
    Period 2 - Synchronous Learning      10:00 - 10:30 a.m.
    Period 3 - Synchronous Learning11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
    Teacher Office Hours1:00 - 1:30 p.m.

    *Grade 12 Physics: From Monday, June 22 to Friday, June 26, this course will begin synchronous learning at 1:00 p.m.; starting Monday, June 29, classes will revert to an 8:30 a.m. start.
  • Structure & Delivery

    Courses will follow a predictable daily schedule with synchronous, interactive instruction via Zoom from an experienced teacher. The format will include large group discussions, small group collaboration and structured independent work time.

    Student learning will be assessed through a variety of subject-specific modes including quizzes, tests, assignments, and a final exam.

    In addition to the synchronous learning time, our students will have access to their teachers for one-on-one support during their daily office hours and over email.
  • Technical Requirements

    strong internet connection and access to a printer are required.

    • Small classes (maximum class size is 16 students)

    • Courses are taught and evaluated to Crescent School's high academic standards
    • In-class tests and assignments are typically marked and returned the following class
    • Teacher contact with parents via email as necessary
