Our Upper School is small by design, allowing us to know and understand each student , and to provide the kind of program and support that responds to his individual needs, strengths and passions.

Library Programmes & Services

Information Literacy

The boys of the Middle and Upper Schools will be exposed to further developing their Information Literacy Skills through team-teaching situations with the Upper School Teacher-Librarian and subject teachers. Workshops will be offered to the Upper School students to discover the tools and resources available to them in the Library. Projects for the 2012-2013 school year include Grade 7 & 8 English and History, Grade 7 Science/Geography, Grade 9 Technology, Grade 10 Careers and Grade 11 English.

Author Visits

The Library supports many authors visiting and interacting with the boys. Award-winning Canadian author, Terry Fallis, of The Best Laid Plans and The High Road, visited in 2012 and will return in 2013 as we have selected The Best Laid Plans for our Grade 11 curriculum. Canadian authors, Allan Stratton and Scott Chantler worked with the Grade 7 boys.

Birthday Book Program

When your son has a birthday, you can honour him with a donation to the Library. New books are purchased with the donation to enhance the collection. The book is mounted with a bookplate that your son will autograph at one of the Birthday Book Bonanzas held in the Library each year.

Reader's Advisory Council

A new initiative for 2012-2013 is to create a Reader's Advisory Council to allow Upper School boys advise on great reads for their peers. They will have the opportunity to make decisions regarding collection development and which authors might be of interest to Upper School Boys.
