Message from the Head
Thank you for choosing to learn about Crescent’s Lower School. By exploring our website, you are investigating a school that is unique in its approach to and outlook on the education of boys. Our complete school experience is wrapped in the school’s mission Men of Character from Boys of Promise. This is what Crescent School has done since 1913—enable Men of Character. Walk by our Wall of Honour and you will see graduates who have, over the years, represented their families, school and country with pride and honour. We have decorated war heroes, Olympic athletes and award winning artists represented on the wall … all Men of Character.
The excitement that the boys generate makes Crescent School bubble and vibrate. A young man opens up new worlds and vistas for himself with exploration of his physical environment, his imagination, his limitless opportunities and himself. For a student in Crescent’s Lower School exploration is an everyday thing.
With our research into boys and boys’ education, we endeavour to understand the unique learning needs of our students. The delivery of our academic program and support available assists our boys in reaching their goals and discovering what they can do when challenged.
Our co-curricular programs offer challenges of a different ilk and the boys are encouraged to stretch themselves with these new experiences. They take chances and explore new activities to balance against their academic efforts.
Our four core values of Respect, Responsibility, Compassion and Honesty guide the boys in their day to day life at Crescent School. The boys are reminded of these regularly and learn that these words resonate on a larger stage than the classroom, sports field, playground or hall. They understand that we, the school, hold Respect, Responsibility, Compassion and Honesty as not just words, but as accountable actions as well.
If you choose to join us at Crescent School you are joining a community of constituents committed to our mission Men of Character from Boys of Promise.
This is what we were, are and will be.
Sandra Boyes
