Circulation of Library Materials
- Books circulate for a 2 week period
- Videotapes/DVDs circulate for a 3 night period
- All reference books may be borrowed for 1 night
- Reserve Collection is comprised of books put on special reserve
in support of an ongoing research project. These materials may be
borrowed for 1 night only.
Red Maple Award Reading Programme
We offer The Red Maple Award reading programme for the enjoyment of our students
in Grades 7 and 8. Students who have read a minimum number of nominated titles
have the opportunity to vote with a large group of their peers for the nominated
title that they feel should win the Red Maple Award each year.
Accelerated Reader
This is a computer programme that helps teachers motivate students to read
more and in turn to improve their reading ability. The students choose their
own books, which makes reading more enjoyable for them. Upon completing the
book, they take a short computer quiz which enable the teacher to evaluate
the students' comprehension of the material. The teachers and the librarian
work together to help the boys choose books that are challenging without
being frustrating. At present we have over 2,300 titles in our collection
for which we have the associated computer quiz.
Suggested Reading Lists
The library provides suggested reading lists for all grade levels in the
school.
