Introduction
Through its academic programme, Crescent School strives to give each student a firm grasp of fundamental skills: to develop in each student the ability to think critically, creatively and independently, and to foster in each an appreciation for the diversity of human experience. Crescent encourages students to pursue their special academic talents in the hope that knowledge, diligently sought and acquired, will lead to wisdom that will serve both the individual and others. Each student’s intellectual development should prepare him not only for university, but also for life. Crescent seeks to develop in each student a breadth as well as a depth of knowledge, to encourage in each student creative and aesthetic appreciation and to increase our students’ understanding of intellectual and cultural diversity in an increasingly complex and competitive world.
With these goals in mind, Crescent Student Services is designed to meet the diverse needs of students, teachers and parents. The foundation of Crescent Student Services (CSS) is for teachers, students and parents to work together as a team in the learning process by providing proactive support for each other. Further, CSS is grounded in the recognition that optimal learning is best achieved when intellectual, emotional and interpersonal factors are considered for each student.
Crescent Student Services (CSS) operates from the philosophical principles of self-awareness and personal strengths. Programmes and services are offered that seek to identify individual strengths and needs in collaboration with the student, teacher and parent. Awareness of personal attributes can lead the student to engage in effective learning strategies and assist him in assuming responsibility for continued academic and life success. CSS operates through three sub-divisions: Learning, Wellness and Research.
