At Crescent School we have adopted Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Compassion as our core values.
The first three, and their associated behaviours, are really nothing more than what we all recognize as the set of common courtesies that permit a civil society to exist.
Respect embraces several behaviours. The first is respect for oneself: we take care with our personal appearance and wear the uniform with pride; we respect ourselves sufficiently that we don’t put noxious and/or illegal substances into our bodies; and we take care not to let ourselves and our families down with our choices and actions. Respect also extends to our interactions with others: we respect each other’s physical security as well as their dignity. We also respect their belongings, and our surroundings and environment.
Responsibility means that we own what we do. We accept the consequences of our choices and actions with as much grace as we can muster in the circumstances.
Thirdly, at Crescent we are honest with each other: to the best of our ability, we tell the truth.
Our fourth core value, compassion, is what sets us apart. We commit to care. Our empathy distinguishes us. We expect and encourage students to care about their immediate families, about their extended family at the School and to reach out to the broader community. We want them to develop the habit of asking, of themselves, and of others: “How can I help?”
