The Crescent School Foundation, established in 1994, holds the School’s Endowment Fund.
Simply put, an endowment fund is a pool of money donated to the School with the stipulation that the entire fund be invested. The principal, or original amount of the donation, is to be held in perpetuity by the School, but a portion of the income earned from the investment is used for purposes which have been agreed upon by the donor(s) and the School. Endowment funds support a wide range of initiatives, including bursaries and scholarships, academic programming, the arts and athletics, and they benefit students in myriad ways on a day-to-day basis.
By operating within prudent capital preservation investment and distribution policies, Crescent’s endowment continues to grow each year. Gifts to endowment through Annual Giving, Major Gifts and Planned Giving are vital elements of support for Crescent, ensuring the long-term wellbeing of the school’s financial portfolio. As Crescent’s centennial approaches in 2013, we look forward to great success in growing the school’s endowment assets to provide another 100 years of academic excellence for future Boys of Promise.
